We provide 15 minute veterinary consultations to assess your pets in the event of illness, accidents, behaviour issues, skin problems, dental problems and more. And by 'pets' we mean dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, chickens, cage and aviary birds, lizards and snakes. We aim to make your visits as stress free as we can.
We have on site digital Xray, Ultrasound and Blood analysis available if your pet has a problem that requires more detective work.
Serious illness or injury will be cared for during treatment in our hospital ward by our experienced nursing staff.
MICROCHIPPING
ALL CATS AND DOGS MUST NOW BE MICROCHIPPED
Microchipping is a fantastic way of making sure your pet is identified, and can be traced back to you, if you get separated. Microchipping can be done awake in consult with minimal discomfort. We can also organise an ear tattoo under sedation or under any future anaesthetic.
VACCINATIONS
Dogs, cats & rabbits need a full set of vaccines when they are young, and then regular boosters as part of their health care plan. It would be silly, and tragic, to lose a pet to a preventable disease, like Parvovirus in dogs The annual full health exam included with our vaccine appointments is just as important, given that our pets age so much faster than we do.
Puppies- we recommend a vaccination for distemper, hepatitis and parvovirus at 6-8 weeks,12 weeks, and 16 weeks
Dogs- we prefer annual vaccinations until the pet is a senior.
Cats- vaccinations against feline enteritis, feline herpes virus and calicivirus, plus feline chlamydia at 6-8 weeks, 12 weeks and 16 weeks, and then an annual booster.
Any cat with access to the outside should be considered for vaccination against FIV.
GROOMING
We have a very experienced dog groomer in the clinic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to keep your pets looking their best!
Our nurses can bathe and brush out your dog or clip your cat on Thursdays and Fridays. This service is by appointment only.
SURGERY
We perform a wide range of soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, including desexings, lump biopsy and removal, wound repair, fracture repairs, amputations, skin flaps, Caesarian sections... and many others. We have experience in most surgeries - if we don't think we can do something well, though, we will find you a referral surgeon who can.
DENTAL CARE
Yes, we are dentists as well! Scaling, polishing, extracting teeth- and providing you with a home care plan to maintain and comfortable and healthy mouth for your pet. We stock a wide range of dental products for at home dental care.
**Please note- it is completely impossible to do a thorough and humane dental scale and polish in animals without a full anaesthetic. Attempting it would cause a great deal of stress to the animal.
HOUSECALLS
Our Home Vet Mobile Service can provide a veterinary consult in your home, if that is easier for you or your pet. We can attend homes in Adelaide's North Eastern suburbs between 12 pm and 4.30 pm Monday - Friday. We do not offer house calls on weekends at this time.

ABOUT
OUR CLINIC
The Holden Hill Veterinary Clinic has been caring for animals since 2002. Our mission is to provide excellent medical and surgical care while still being ourselves. We started as a family clinic and we aim to keep it that way- we are not very corporate. In a very small building we pack a lot of services and gadgets, and although sometimes we trip over each other we love where we work.
Dr Kristian Zirnsak is a 1994 graduate and likes ultrasonography, the art of anaesthesiology , orthopaedics, and cats- just give the man a cat and he will be happy.
We are also committed to providing care for injured stray animals and wildlife in North East Adelaide
